Invitae East Coast Lab + Production Facility

In a strategic move to expand its operations, Invitae has launched its first East Coast laboratory in the transformed Morrisville Outlet Mall, now aptly named "The Stitch." The redevelopment introduces a vast 125,000 square-foot laboratory production facility in its first phase, with a vision for doubling its capacity in a future expansion. Phase 1 encompasses a broad spectrum of labs, including Accessioning and Extraction Labs, Pre- and Post-PCR labs, as well as supportive administrative and core spaces. These are complemented by open offices and communal amenities, such as a coffee bar, café, gym, and courtyards.

This initiative is crucial for Invitae, a front-runner In medical genetics, as it seeks to significantly enhance its testing capacity, surpassing that of its San Francisco headquarters. The effort aligns with the company's mission to make genetic information affordable and accessible on a global scale.

The facility not only revitalizes a once-dormant retail space but also sets a precedent in sustainable development. Targeting LEED certification, it features over 80% construction waste reduction and anticipates substantial energy savings, highlighting a commitment to thoughtful and sustainable building reuse. The design prioritizes flexibility, adaptability, and energy efficiency, integrating innovative systems like the Starline overhead power distribution to meet the evolving needs of laboratory configurations.
