Norfolk Campus Master Plan

The master plan for Tidewater Community College's Norfolk campus creates a roadmap for growth into the foreseeable future, addressing current issues and opportunities unique to its location while aligning with the overall TCC strategic plan. Strategically located in the cultural, business, and theater district of downtown Norfolk, the new campus tackles access issues, promotes lifelong learning and partnership building, and is poised to contribute significantly to the economic development of its urban environs.

The campus is composed of five buildings - a combination of repurposed historic buildings and new structures - embedded in the heart of downtown along historic Granby Street. Multi-modal access to campus and urban amenities provide ample connections for students and faculty. A new four-level structure is also proposed that will consolidate student services with science labs and classrooms. Acquisition of new properties for an expanded library and to showcase the Culinary Arts program are also planned.

Realignment of programs within other existing buildings will enhance resource efficiency and promote collaboration. The plan also aims to enhance campus identity within the city via multi-faceted approach that includes consistent architectural elements, signage, landscape, and paving patterns. The TCC brand is well established and synonymous with the overarching tenet of student success.
