New Student Housing

The University of North Carolina at Asheville desires to enhance their residential community and create a visibly sustainable environment through design and teachable moments.

The University envisions creating a “village” of smaller scale buildings serving between 24 and 68 students per community. Flats and townhouse-style buildings will house 300 students with four to eight students per unit and will include a full kitchen, living room, and a combination of single and double bedrooms.

Other project goals include achieving LEED Silver Certification; creating an environmentally-sensitive design that is well-integrated with the campus’ natural environment; making a comfortable, non-institutional, feels-like-home atmosphere equipped with a variety of indoor and outdoor amenities; and expressing the unique character of UNC Asheville.
