Pine Bluff Campus Master Plan

Using UAPB’s Strategic Plan as a guide, the University’s 2020 Master Plan is seen as an opportunity to reassess and refocus attention on the values that have made the campus a local landmark. The planning process is well underway, with space utilization studies, facilities assessments, and growth projections complete. This data has been synthesized to determine future space needs and optimal long-term use of facilities. Integral to this effort is integration of various campus building systems to support these campus revisions. Deferred maintenance needs of an aging infrastructure are also considered.

The plan will honor and revitalize the historic campus core by renovating certain adjacent structures and possibly adding new buildings. The current Student Union and Library are seen as prime targets for reinvigoration to bolster recruitment and retention by offering spaces for students to study and socialize. New and renovated residence halls are planned to enhance student community and success. A corridor of science and research facilities is being developed, which will augment both teaching and research, particularly of the growing bio-medical sciences and the university’s noteworthy aquacultures studies.
