Dogwood and Magnolia Residence Halls

Wake Forest University's new Magnolia and Dogwood Residence Halls accommodate sophomores and juniors on the North Campus to fulfill the goal of keeping students living on campus for up to three years. The brick neo-Georgian halls are mirror images of one another, and feature a mix of suite-style rooms with double and single rooms for 482 upper class students.

The halls also feature rooms for student organizational gatherings, media rooms, and large recreation lounges for ping pong and foosball. Opened in August 2013, the buildings are LEED® Silver-certified, with key sustainable features including water efficient landscaping, low flow plumbing fixtures, exemplary performance in protecting habitat, use of regional materials, and incorporation of daylight and views.
Designers sought input from the campus community through focus groups with students and administrators, resulting in a project that has been praised as "the best designed and intentional residential experience for students.” Hanbury also designed South Hall and the New Freshman Residence Hall for first year students at Wake Forest.
“The reward of hiring an outstanding team of professional architects, engineers and contractors is knowing that intentions of the campus community, both tangible and intangible, are clearly evident in the final built structure.”
Ryan Swanson, former University Architect
