Lauren Townsend leads Hanbury’s brand communications efforts and activities. In this role she is responsible for the direction and implementation of the firm’s strategic marketing, creative development and external engagement. Lauren’s work explores the intersection of architecture and architectural history, placemaking, branding, economic development and community engagement.

Prior to Hanbury, Lauren spent years working on place and destination development and marketing for Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau and Visit Norfolk. Lauren loves applying her marketing and storytelling acumen to amplifying the firm’s work and its impact on people and place. Lauren is fascinated by the impact architecture and design has on collective history and the social fabric of communities.

Lauren brings a mindset of curiosity and continuous learning to her work and life, consistently reading about what’s going on in the architecture field and wider current events, attending talks and presentations, and connecting with new and old friends across the industry.
