Master Plan and New Building

Reflecting the significant economic growth of Amsterdam, the International School of Amsterdam is embarking on a 5-year strategy to nearly double its enrollment and expand its facilities and land holdings. Hanbury worked closely with school administrators to develop a curriculum-based program of spaces, incorporating latest educational trends towards collaborative learning environments and maker spaces.
The result is an efficient, phased master plan that accommodates growth over time.  The new Upper School Building includes fully modern teaching areas and labs, creative "student wellness" physical education spaces (including 4 gyms), a 750-seat theatre, and classroom-convenient collaborative areas in a variety of sizes.
Most notable is the Innovation Commons, a space designed around the concept of creatively blending collaborative learning, access to information, food service, and technology.
