Welcome to our 2023 Summer Scholars

Hanbury is thrilled to announce the selection of nine exceptional emerging designers for the Summer Scholar program which kicked off last week and showcases the extraordinary talent and potential of the next generation of architects and designers.

The Nicholas E. Vlattas Summer Scholar Program, a hallmark initiative at Hanbury, is designed to foster innovation and collaboration and address the challenges of shaping the future of our communities. This research-focused intensive offers an immersive experience to students, equipping them with the necessary skills and experiences to jumpstart their professional careers. This unique opportunity allows scholars to broaden their network and engage with the firm's community while learning from industry experts and collaborating directly with firm leadership. Throughout the summer, the scholars will engage with their peers across offices, collaborating on research and contributing to the firm's ongoing initiatives.

This summer, we welcomed 9 students that have demonstrated remarkable academic achievements, creative thinking, and a passion for advancing architecture. With diverse backgrounds and experiences, they bring fresh perspectives and unique insights to their work. Chosen from a competitive pool of over 120 applicants from 17 renowned design institutions, these scholars represent undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at esteemed universities including Clemson University, Cornell University, University of Virginia, Tulane, and Virginia Tech.
